OUR PROJECTS

(TNNAM), our projects are designed to address the root causes of malaria and provide long-lasting solutions that benefit communities across the nation.

BUILDING A MALARIA-FREE TANZANIA THROUGH IMPACTFUL PROJECTS

Our projects are designed to address the root causes of malaria and deliver sustainable, high-impact solutions that improve health outcomes across the nation. We go beyond short-term interventions by implementing comprehensive programs in prevention, treatment access, community empowerment, and advocacy that drive systemic change.

Each project represents an investment in Tanzania’s future — protecting children, supporting mothers, empowering communities, and strengthening healthcare systems. With the support of our donors and partners, we are not only reducing malaria cases today but also laying the foundation for a healthier, more resilient generation tomorrow. By standing with TNNAM, you are directly contributing to a transformative mission that saves lives and accelerates Tanzania’s journey toward becoming completely malaria-free.

MOSQUITO BREEDING SITE IDENTIFICATION & BIOLARVICIDES (KIGOMA & MWANZA)

We carried out extensive mapping of mosquito breeding sites and applied biolarvicides to reduce mosquito populations in Kigoma and Mwanza. This project combined scientific interventions with community participation to maximize impact.

VECTOR CONTROL PROJECTS

TNNAM has implemented multiple vector control initiatives targeting malaria transmission at its source. These projects focus on mosquito net distribution, breeding site identification, and biolarvicide applications to reduce mosquito populations.

DISTRIBUTION OF TREATED MOSQUITO NETS (SONGEA, 2013–2014)

In partnership with local health providers, TNNAM distributed long-lasting insecticide-treated nets to vulnerable children in Songea. This project significantly reduced malaria cases in the region by providing essential protection for those most at risk.

COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATION (RUVARUMA REGION)

In Songea and Namtumbo districts, TNNAM trained local community health providers on malaria prevention and control. This initiative empowered frontline workers with knowledge and tools to educate families and promote healthier practices.

IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF VECTOR CONTROL PROJECTS (2019)

With funding from PMI (President’s Malaria Initiative), TNNAM conducted an assessment of vector control projects across Ruvuma, Lindi, and Mtwara. The study provided critical data to refine strategies and enhance future malaria interventions.

POLITICAL WILL ENHANCEMENT (2019–2020)

TNNAM engaged political leaders across Tanzania to build awareness, commitment, and accountability in the fight against malaria. This project emphasized the importance of leadership in mobilizing resources and prioritizing malaria eradication.

MOSQUITO NET DISTRIBUTION AMONG PREGNANT WOMEN (2021)

Targeting pregnant women in Songea and Dar es Salaam, this project distributed treated mosquito nets to protect both mothers and their unborn children, addressing one of the most vulnerable groups affected by malaria across these two regions.

NATIONAL MALARIA SCORECARD DEVELOPMENT

In collaboration with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), TNNAM worked to establish the National Malaria Scorecard. The tool was launched to enhance data-driven decision-making, and dissemination activities helped policymakers and stakeholders monitor progress effectively.

ONE CHILD ONE TREATED MOSQUITO NET (2025–2030)

This ongoing project aims to distribute treated mosquito nets to primary school children in 10 regions with high malaria prevalence. By protecting children in school, the initiative promotes long-term prevention and healthier learning environments.

COMMUNITY-BASED MOSQUITO CONTROL (MWANZA & GEITA, 2024–2027)

In Mwanza and Geita regions, TNNAM is leading a project to identify breeding sites and apply biolarvicides, while engaging communities in active malaria control. This participatory approach ensures sustainable results and long-term community ownership.
